I listened to Matthew's record in chapter 27-28 this morning. I was struck by the contrast between the men and women in the last days of Jesus. Here we find the guys mindful of what Jesus is about to do, and what it will mean for them. One of the disciples has even figured out that the only way to profit from Jesus is to sell him like a slave. Their focus seems to be what they were to get from Jesus. Contrast that with the women anointing Jesus with expensive perfume. Her only thought was what she might offer to Jesus. I don't know what all that means, but it is an interesting contrast. I hope that God will move in my life so that I can be more about what I can give to him rather than what I can get from him.
