National Staff Conference Begins

Traveling to New York City to hear Pastor Tim Keller today. Tim is our opening speaker and after two messages Lisa and I already feel challenged and stimulated. Tim has profound thoughts about ministering in both word and deed. There is do much still to come including another morning with Tim.

I will keep posting.

We love our partners!

Fund development is a difficult part of our job, but incredibly rewarding due to the relationships we enjoy. It was a privelge to speak at our partnering church in Spirit Lake Iowa this morning. Cole, our eight year old took my picture while I shared about our ministry. I will include it below.

Arnolds Park, Okoboji

My grandma and grandpa would take my dad to ride this roller coaster when he was just a boy. My dad loved it. Six rides later my kids do too. This coster is over 80 years old. Kinda neat.

We are in Arnolds Park in Okoboji, Iowa. It is about 10 mintues from my mom’s house. People have come here since 1857 to have some fun. Some good things are changing very slowly. This is one of them.

Shopping

It will be a Toshiba. We covered three shops that sold TVs (who knew there were even three places here from which to chose). It amazed me that we saw a $400 spread between the same set in two different stores. We called back to the second store we shopped and odered the Toshiba.

We finished the day out by grilling burgers. The sun was so golden I had to ask for some models to photograph. Here is my mom, Lisa, Keegan and Madison.

Made it.

Finally we pulled into my moms driveway just before midnight. Whew that was a full day of driving. It was all worth it to see the smile on her face.

We will have five days here with my mom. Well technically four and a half days since we head back to Colorado on Sunday after church. It will be a pleasure to love her in a more tangible way while we are here.

I plan to post some pictures of our time here do come back and take a look. For now good night.

Iowa or Bust

We are on our way to Iowa. Yup, we handed the project over to the students over the weekend and we have a few days to break away before the big National Conference begins. We chose to visit my Mom who lives in the north west corner of Iowa. So we are zooming accross Nebraska enjoying mile and miles of cornfields. The kids are doing great so far (thank you Lord for electronics). Okay back to driving.

Our Small Groups

Lisa and I both had the pleasure of leading small groups this summer on our project. We have enjoyed working with these new friends. All of them are eager to learn and grow and walk with God. This is our last week together as this weekend we celebrate the end of the staff leading and now we now will turn the project over to the students. We have lined up which students will do what and this weekend, while camping with them, we will have a ceremony where we hand over the roles and responsibilities of the project to the students.

Lisa and I invited our two groups over for diner tonight. We had a great time fixing diner, eating it and then playing two truths and a lie. My the stories were amazing and we laughed a lot. I am including a group shot we took inside our apartment. We are going to miss meeting with these guys in the remaining three weeks.
